TRAIN AN APPRENTICE
AGA is a Registered Training Organisation (or RTO). We are accredited by the Australian Government to deliver industry training which results in a nationally recognised trade qualification.
AGA operates a network of eight training facilities, located throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. Our training services are built around flexibility for the employer, and all of our instructors are highly qualified trades people with extensive industry experience.

Training for AGA apprentices
AGA originally gained RTO accreditation so that we could train our own apprentices, in a way which complemented their placement with our host employers. Our field officers make all the arrangements for our apprentices to receive training, however hosts have active input in the training process and can negotiate a training schedule that suits their business.
We believe that regular contact with employers helps us to provide training which is industry driven and relevant to what the apprentice is learning on-the-job in the workplace.
In other words, we function as a private training provider, delivering apprentice training to our own employees. This includes:
- Industry based training delivered at no cost (or significantly subsidised) to our apprentices
- Flexible training schedules that all host employers access to their apprentices when they are most needed
- Workplace training and assessment, conducted at the host’s workplace to minimise disruption to your business
- Integrated training centres which allow for cross-trade training in similar disciplines
- Pathways for our apprentices into higher level qualifications and tertiary education
- Comprehensive additional training and life skills development for our apprentices.
This training is provided with the assistance of funding from the Victorian Government.
Training for your apprentices
If you are an employer who directly employs their own apprentices (ie. does not hire an apprentice from AGA) you can arrange for your apprentice to be trained with us.
At the request of the State Government, AGA has also opened its training services to other apprentices and employers. This service is provided in a similar manner to a TAFE, however apprentices benefit from smaller groups and integrated training (particularly in the building trades, where electricians, plumbers and carpenters work together on the same projects).
As a specialist in traditional trades, we pride ourselves on the quality of our industry training. Like all accredited RTO’s (including TAFE institutions), AGA must comply with the Australian Quality Training Framework, which ensures consistent quality of training delivery. We are also an AS/ISO 9001:2008 Quality Endorsed company and achieve consistently excellent results in independent training quality audits.
AGA's training services are delivered with the support of funding from the Victorian Government. AGA can provide a full credit transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning at the time of enrolment for students with prior training or industry experience. Students with physical and/or intellectual disabilities are encouraged to apply.
